Nominal guard size is 5 1/2 by 2 inches, 3/4 inch thick Usually two required per Torah Produced with natural hard woods, Finished with clear plastic/acrylic type finish (ie: Varathane, Krylon Crystal Clear) No stains, varnishes, or shellacs Beeswax is used to lubricate the sliding insert Typical woods used are Mahogany, Cherry, Maple, Walnut Regular order includes my choice of colors (woods) Customized orders are welcome - your choice of woods, hole sizes, overall sizes. Please specify and submit request for estimate. Additional charges may apply.
Please check your Torah Rod (dowel) diameter before ordering. 1 inch is standard on the Torahs at my synagogue, yours may be different. A 1” dowel uses a 1-1/8 Torah Guard Brass or sterling silver commemorative plates can be added and engraved, or engraved by you UPDATE: Now shipping Version 2 "Snap Fit"

An improvement has been made to Torah Guards- The Snap Fit. A combination of a small brass nail and some creative carving causes the Torah Guard insert to "snap" into place. Once in place, the nail head is captured by a small pocket inside the Guard and retains the insert in place, preventing slipping and falling out over time. This improvement should enhance the longevity of the Torah Guard and make it trouble free. The brass nail is completely embedded in the Guard and is not visible on the outside once installed. The insert makes a pleasant "snap" noise upon being correctly inserted, and does not prevent removal in the future. We understand that some of our customers may object to the inclusion of "hardware" into the Torah Guard. In respect to them, Torah Guards may be ordered in version 1 or the new version 2 at the same price and with the same delivery schedule. I feel the improved version 2 is a great improvement over version 1, and will ship version 2 unless strongly objected to. The choice is entirely the Customer's preference.
